Marbury Vs. Madison was a landmark U.S. Supreme court case. This case made the Court form a basis for the exercise of Judicial review in the U.S. under Article 3 of the Constitution. This case helped define the boundaries between the two government branches, Executive and Judicial. William Marbury was appointed Justice of the peace in the district of Columbia by President John Adams but the commission was not delivered.

Marbury petitioned the Supreme Court to make the new Secretary of State to deliver the document.
