The last reason why Margret Thatcher was so important to British politics is because of the simply fact she is a woman. In British society as a whole, women were not use to holding position. Actually Margret was the first women to have not only ran the British conservative party but she was also the first woman to run and win prime minister. This means that there is a woman running the whole country. This was perhaps really scary for British politics when she first got into politics. I would imagine that a women running a country and having impact on the rest of the world is something that is frowned upon in many part of the world. She was very thoughtful because she had a family. She also studied business. Studying business forced her to be able to run the country similar to a business. This how she was ultimately able to help the country out of the bad economic system that they were in. Many said that Thatcher personality was also what allowed her to get her way. “Thatcher had charisma, too—famine charisma and this is what made her message effective” (Berlinski 71) (Networks) I am sure it made her way of communicating very different then the way of communication that Britain society was used to. The way that she was able to communicate from a level that most of the men in positions at this time could not. She also came across, as bossy but was very convincing. This characteristic was one that was very important in helping her to get her way and help allies to vote in her favor. For example, a conversation that she has with Mikhail Gorbachev on the United State of America and the nuclear devices was used to help change Ronald Reagan’s decision. You will see late on in the text how their relationship along with her ability to persuade help to make big changes in the united kingdoms
