Maria Teresa Goretti was born October 16, 1890 in Corinaldo, Ancona, Italy to a family of many children. Her mother Assunta Carlini and her father Luigi Goretti. I would think Maria looked up to Jesus, followed in his footsteps, and would stay loyal to him threw anything. Jesus was Maria's savour, a man to help her stay strong through the troubled times. Jesus was Maria's answer, someone she could always talk to alone or not, someone she could ask for help, and someone to always listen to what she has to say.
I believe that Maria believing in Jesus affected what she did because she believed Jesus wouldn't let that happen and she was following in his words. Believing in Jesus affected all the decisions Maria had made up to that point and so on by letting the doctors stop working on her so she could die and be with Jesus, God, and Mary. She wouldn't let Alessandro rape even though he threatened to kill her because believing in Jesus gave her hope and made her strong enough to not let him do a sin. Believing in Jesus gave Maria something good to believe in.
Some of the bigger challenges Maria faced was becoming so poor she had to move away from her home she was growing up in and than having to move into another house with complete strangers she didn't know. Another challenge she would of faced was losing her father and always having her family out working in fields.
