Who was Marie Antoinette?
Looking into the life of Marie Antoinette You've probably heard of Marie Antoinette, but do you know her story. She was a historical monarch of the 1700's. She was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1755. Marie Antoinette was the 15th child of the Holy Roman Emperor Francis I and was arranged to marry the future king of France, (King Louis XVI) to keep an alliance between the two countries. They married at 15 and 16 years old and just met on their wedding day. Marie Antoinette had very few official duties as queen so she had a lot of free time to spend socializing with her ladies in waiting, she indulged in extravagant tastes like building a model farm on

Where the queen's brother, the Holy Roman Emperor, waited with troops to invade France. The goal was to overthrow the revolutionary government. When the king and Queen were caught and considered traitors. They got locked away in waiting for their future to be determined. Things were going south for the royal figures in the kingdom and France. In September, revolutionaries began to massacre thousands of royalist prisoners. Marie Antoinette's best friend, the princesse de Lamballe was dismembered in France's streets and revolutionaries paraded her head and body parts throughout Paris. In December, King Louis VXI was put on trial for treason and in January the he was executed. In July 1793, Marie Antoinette lost custody of her son, when he was forced to lie in court against his mother. Finally, in October, Marie Antoinette was convicted of treason and sent to the guillotine at 37 years old (history.com Staff, "Marie-Antoinette). At the time the guillotine was the quickest way to go. It was designed at an angle to cut the neck easier, millimeter by millimeter. The blade goes through the neck in a hundredth of a second and is the most painless way to die possible. Even though the death might of been painless you can image the fear if someone like Marie Antoinette had when walking up those last steps other life and having to put her neck on a wooden frame right above a giant razor blade
