Persepolis
Persepolis is a graphic novel written by Marjane Satrapi depicting her early childhood in Iran during the Islamic revolution. In the beginning Marji relied a lot on god and her faith to understand what was happening in the world around her. However, after her uncle is killed by the government she distances herself from god. Detachment from god can result in an internal conflict and revaluation of faith.
In the panel there is a narration box that expresses Marji’s inner monologue, it says, “And I was lost, without any bearings... what could be worse than that?” (p.71) This narration conveys her feelings of confusion and isolation towards god.
