When you think of the most influential person in the civil rights movement, who comes to mind? Martin Luther King Jr. was an extremely active civil rights leader. He faced many obstacles while on his mission for equality. Dr. King organized numerous peaceful protests. Unfortunately, he lost his life while chasing his dreams.

Martin Luther King was born in 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. King was inspired by his father, who stood up for segregation. Dr. King received threatening phone calls, his home was bombed, and set on fire. Dr. King led the march on Washington in 1963, which focused on employment, discrimination, and civil rights abuses against African Americans. And gave speeches that inspired many to stand up for what was right.
