In source one, the artist’s point of view on media convergence, which is what the political cartoon is based on, is that media convergence isn’t a good thing. Actually, the cartoon is almost making fun of media convergence; the artist repeats the phrase “What’s so bad about media cross-ownership?” which makes it sound sarcastic, as if they are mocking the fact that some people believe media convergence is a good thing. The message of this cartoon is we don’t realize how many TV channels, radio station, or newspapers are actually getting information from the same source because they are working together. Even though different media outlets are giving you the same information, that doesn’t mean that what they are saying is true. Most of those companies have the same source for information, and are working together to get a certain side of a story out into the world, while making it more credible. This makes the information we receive more biased, which makes it difficult to tell what is real, and what is not. The message is shown through main details, which are the names of the media outlets in the cartoon. One is KMRJ News 3 - a Conglomo Corp Station, another was KMJR News 1 - a Conglomo Corp Station, and the other two were K-Merge News, and the Merger Daily News- Journal- Times- Tribune - which is a Conglomo Corp paper.
