Our primary focus was on the treatment of the family unit, and not the individual. The reasoning behind this was that the family is the supporting foundation for a patient with an MHC, so in order to help treat/help the patient it would require family involvement. Many families go through a grieving period or sadness after a family member has been diagnosed. During the child’s stay the family was involved in the therapy sessions weekly, they were allowed to visit and call during specific hours. The child received a group evaluation daily from a collaborative medical team. Finally, the discharge ends much like the admission starts with the family unit. Everyone is involved in the discharge plan, and everyone usually has input in the
