In Of Mice and Men, a mentally handicapped man, Lennie was handed down like an object to another person. Mentally handicapped treatments have changed tremendously from then to now. People that had mental problems were placed in a building that was quite like a jail cell. The facilites often had awful treatment methods in ways that were breath takingly cruel. The three main treatments for the mentally handicap were lobotomy, electroshock therapy, and the utica crib. Lobotomy is a neurosurgical procedure. It involves the cutting or scraping away the connections of the pre-frontal cortex/ frontal lobes of the brain. Hugh Levinson
