There is a Mexican art group that has taken the events in Oaxaca and exposed them to the rest of the world. The graphic designers Rosario Mtz and Roberto Vega created “LaPiztola” in 2006 because they wanted the world to know about the protests and the stories of everyday. Rosario and Roberto along with Yankel Balderas started with just “silkscreen prints for shirts, posters and wallpapers for the street, then started making stencils”(Quick). They have numbers of artwork but one in particular is the mural in Koreatown that has two children, a girl and a boy on a red wall. The girl is holding a corn and the boy is holding a chicken. The corn and the chicken symbolize that people could have all the money they want but if they do not have food or the ability to farm, they would die. Also, the mural has birds that represent the migration and the freedom birds have in any land. To many people it can just be a painting of two children smiling on this red wall but for others it’s a message that can have different meanings. It can mean that finally families have food at their tables or that schools are feeding children.
