Making Beowulf a hero as he uses his bravery to help others and improve the world. Before Beowulf goes into battle with a dragon, he states, “I’ve never known fear; as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, if the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me” (2511-2515). Even though Beowulf is no longer in his prime and puts himself in danger by going out to fight, he still goes. Beowulf knows he’s old, and can no longer fight like he used to, but still wants to fight and seek fame if the dragon is willing to fight him. Sending out a positive message to those around him that look up to him the importance and meaning of bravery and to do what one can to leave a positive influence on the world. Becoming a role model for society that people can look up to and learn from. Beowulf’s bravery and undying passion to fight against what’s wrong is important to society because it sends out a positive influence and encourages those in society to make change as well. Through Beowulf’s bravery and passion, he sets a good example of what a hero should be
