A deep understanding of the complexities of social and cultural phenomena can help one gain a comprehensive understanding of how societies operate and change. Two separate but related topics are covered in this essay: the idea of rites of passage, and the effect of globalization on the homogenization of food, culture, and lifestyles. With a deeper understanding of the differences and similarities that make up our world, both topics illuminate the dynamic and complex character of human communities.

Travelers are now offered sanitized and commercialized interpretations of the local culture and tradition, which has resulted in the uniformity of the tourist experience due to the growth of hotels, theme parks, and resorts ("The impact of globalization on cultural homogenization".). Similar experiences being provided worldwide are uniformizing tourism's feelings in different destinations, leading to a loss of cultural significance. Moreover, people's exposure to many lifestyles from around the world as a result of technological improvements has led to a more unified and homogenous manner of living. For instance, the routine of starting the day with a cup of coffee, going to the gym after work, and traveling globally for leisure and cultural experiences is becoming increasingly common. This pattern, which has been greatly affected by social media and other online platforms that promote certain behaviors, shows a global trend towards a more standardized style of living. Especially after the pandemic, which raised people's attention to health, the lifestyle of a healthier life is being embraced globally. …show more content…
Initially, I did not think I could engage in the informal economy in my daily life. However, upon seeing the example of buying friends food in exchange for their help, I realized that this situation frequently applies to me. Before taking this course, I thought this was merely an action to avoid freeriding others' work or assistance. Now, I understand it is also a common form of informal economy. Additionally, I had the opportunity to learn more about endogamy and exogamy. While I was familiar with polygyny and polyandry, I had no idea that endogamy and exogamy also existed. In the past, I perceived people's choices to marry within or outside their region as merely personal preferences. However, through the reading materials, I have recognized the importance and implications of endogamy and exogamy, including their advantages and disadvantages and how they impact different cultures. Moreover, it was fascinating to understand the reasons behind the variety of skin colors in the world. People typically classify skin colors into four categories: white, yellow, brown, and black.
