When assigned to the Loreto Entally Community, she picked up a job as a teacher for St. Mary's School for Girls. Later she had joined the Sisters of Loretto and became the principal in 1944 for the school. As many people got married, so did she. Although it was not a real wedding, she claimed to have married the life and service of Jesus Christ for eternity. The Nobel Peace prize was a very large honor. She accepted the award in sandals and a plain cotton sari to show that she did not need to be of any more excellent than others. In addition, she also received the State's Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1985, and many other awards or honors.
