The name of the article I read is “Promise and Possibility for Aspiring Principals: An Emerging Leadership Identity through Learning to Do Action Research”, the author name is Batagiannis, Stella C. The four standards I choose were:
Standard 1: An education leader promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported.
Standard 3: An education leader promotes the success of every student by ensuring management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment.
Standard 4: An education leader promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources.
Standard 5: An education leader promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner.
I would like to ask the author:
1. What inspired her to do an article on this topic besides course requirements?
2. Why didn’t she do any research here in Fort Lauderdale where it was published?
3. Did the research she gathered answer the questions she had?
4. How did she like conducting the research?
5. Did the research aid the people who participated in it?
I think the author did an excellent job with her article. I’m happy I choose this article to read because finding this article has enhanced my descesion on the topic for my dissertation. I will defenitly use this articles as one of my references being that my topic for my dissertation will be about leaders/managers following current policies and procedures. The author covered all aspects of a peer reviewed journal by making sure the journal is at least five pages long. Within those five pages or more the author included an abstract. An abstract is a summary of the journal that’s found at the beginning of the journal to give an overview of what the author is discussing. Once the summary is read there are headnotes that include actual events taking place up to the research beginnig. The headnotes will include the reason for conducting the research, who support thoughts of the research, and the three tier process. The headnotes include more informative information from pass research, authors, and books that relate to current data and research. The author speaks about Principals and teachers being paired to conduct the research instead of having them separated into separate groups. The headnotes listed some components of action research from Neil, 2004 that would during research:
Identifying the problem or area
Reconnaissance or research
Plan development
Implementation of the plan
Evaluation
Revision of the original plan
Implementation of the new plan
The author mentioned how she used Methodology/Pedagogy in the setting of the University in the Midwest region to complete qualitative research of graduate students. The author did answer all of my questions except for number one. I wanted to know if her choice of research would’ve remained the same if it was for personal use and not school. Most research topics are influence through requirements of course work, but I’ve did research on issues or concerns of my own on my own without it being a requirement for a course or work. I understand that the research was not conducted in Fort. Lauderdale due to conducting the research with graduates at the University. I wanted to know if her research answered prior questions to completing the research, yes it did. Her research not only answered prior questions but also enlighten leaders to the role of an instructor and instructors to the role of a leader. The research also allowed great communication amongst the team of teachers and principals. The author’s choice of words let me know she gained a vase
