Shakespeare has written many plays, and many directors re-create the plays trying to find the true meaning of Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare's play, Much Ado About Nothing, is captivating and bustling with love, mystery and a tinge of humor that is embedded into the characters and their actions. Many people have re-created Much Ado About Nothing and have made many different versions of it. There are different versions of the play, but which version of Much Ado About Nothing, really captures the true meaning of the play, the same meaning Shakespeare had when he wrote it? The classic version of Much Ado About Nothing is more effective in capturing the true meaning of the play.

Instead of saying "How are you?" they would say "How art thou?" or when you say "I will be there soon" they would say "I will be thither lief" instead. Adding that kind of language into the classic version really gave the play the feeling of being brought back in time and allowed the true meaning Shakespeare had wanted, to shine through to the audience. Also in the way the characters ordered their words, made the play truly start to capture the true as well as the full meaning that Shakespeare had designed the play to have. The people worded their sentences in a way that made the Shakespearean language flow and sound natural while falling from the actors lips. The way the sentences were worded, although not so vastly different from the way we word our sentences, still had an impact on what made the play more true to its origin and meaning. Everything about the language used in the classic version of the play, made it more true, the odd sound of Shakespearean language, the way the words were worded and mainly the exclamations used. The exclamations they used in the classic version, would not be anything you would hear today used as an exclamation. Today, if someone was to come up to me and spook me I would not say "Thou gasted me!" I would say "Oh man you really scared me." Three major things you notice in the film are clothing, language, and scenery. The scenery is taking you back in time with the castle that most of the characters live in and eat in. With the castle looming in the background while a scene plays out, it gives you the sense of being brought back in time, to a period where Shakespeare had lived and written magnificent plays. In the beginning of the movie, the actors are sitting on a hill over looking vast amounts of land covered by vineyards of grapes and other delicacy's. Although we have vineyards today, the vineyards in the movie, made the scene change and become so much more real and it felt as if the meaning Shakespeare wanted was shining through, and finally being captured. In the classic version of the movie, most of the scenes took place in the court yard of the castle. The court yard was the main place that the movie took place in, and it added that final touch of trueness to the classic film. The modern versions of the play didn’t have the castle,, vineyards, and most importantly the court yard. Taking away the older scenery from the play, diminishes the true meaning that it had.
