Introduction
Counseling is a therapy that involves talking. Counseling allows a person to share their feelings and problems to another (a counselor) in a dependable and confidential environment. Normally the counselor empathizes with the clients. Many types of counseling are evident depending on the type of problem one has. Counseling usually involves the psychology, therefore, can be termed as psychological therapy. One of the psychological therapies is behavioral therapy. Behavioral therapy assumes that if a certain behavior can be learned then the same behavior can be unlearnt that is conditioned. Perhaps this model is used when handling with addictions and phobias. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) usually combines behavioral therapies and cognitive therapies (Comeau-Vallée, 2015). CBT mostly deals with the physical actions, feelings, emotions, and thoughts. Often depression is a common incidence among youths or those in adolescence. Ashley has a difficult in adjusting to the new father and new life because her mother has remarried. Ashley’s condition has led to poor concentration in class. Psychoanalytical and Psychodynamic is the condition that Ashley is going through.
Psychodynamic and psychoanalytical are conditions that focus on unconscious relationships with people that develops in childhood. Due to the evolvement of the unconscious relationship since childhood, it can be difficult to change. Psychodynamic and psychoanalytical can be collaborated with behavioral therapies and art therapies to aid in solving the condition.
Art therapies utilize creative arts to deal with a client’s issue. Integration of the three therapies can be effective in handling Ashley’s condition. The counselor needs to focus on Ashley’s behavior change and try to understand her normal thinking since childhood using CAT and CBT models. Psychodynamic and psychoanalytical counselors should understand that Ashley’s behavior led to a challenge few days
