One of the ways sounds quite simple which is to work on a single task before moving on which is how things were done before. The prefrontal cortex of the brain takes control and assigns different parts of the brain to handle them, (Shao & Shao). This is called the executive function of the brain.
Etienne Koechlin, a neuroscientist at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) in Paris led a study which had participants finish two tasks at the same time, (website). Their brain activity was measured via functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). When the participants were told that they would receive a large reward for completing one of the tasks accurately, one side of the brain was active. When they were told they would receive an even greater award for completing the other uncompleted task, the other side of the brain became active. Finally, when they were asked to complete yet another task, what they found was that the participants would consistently forget one of the three tasks they were supposed to perform, (website). The third task also caused …show more content…
This includes focusing on one task at a time for a certain period of time before moving on to another project for that same length amount of time. This allows for attention and focus given to one task at a time. She also suggests purposely scheduling time for individual tasks through the use of a planner/agenda, turning off distractions for a period of time, seeking a quiet place to work, reducing clutter and focusing on work when at work,
