A woman’s courageous fight against an unbelievable crime toward women, a book called Murder in the Name of Honor, written by Rana Husseini.

It starts off by Rana a Jordanian journalist who gets a whole of these so called murders identified as ‘honor crimes’ the reason why they are called that is because women are getting killed because of the something that isn’t there fault. The husband or brother or father of the young woman whether she is a wife or a daughter or cousin. The men of the family would kill you if you were caught with another men before you were married. They would kill you and then they would turn themselves in to the police and say it was a crime of honor I had to kill my sister because she was damaged our family

So Rana eventually got tones of signatures because most people like her were against these honor crimes and they wanted to stop but people that were looked up to in the society did not agree with Rana they thought that it was appropriate for the men to kill the women if they caught them in the act of committing adultery like the deputies of the town did not want her to go though with this petition because they either was against it or they were to afraid to stand up for themselves because they didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes. But once the royal family had heard about these crimes they hurried up and signed Rana’s petition so they walked in the march against it but some people didn’t think that they would go though with it so when they saw that they did they ran away from the task at hand because they didn’t know what to do. The way of them killing her is by killing her in public to show as an example to all women who tarnished their families honor that that would happen to them. Over time women started running away from their homes because they were so afraid of their family that they would kill them over the slightest thing like having unknown phone numbers in your phone they would say that that is a sign of you having an affair. They were basically imprisoned in their own homes. It was happening everywhere like in Bangladesh, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, the UK, Palestine, India, Israel, Pakistan, Morocco, Sweden, Turkey, Yemen, Uganda, and even in the USA. Police men who would stand by and watch a young girl being a victim of an honor crime would not even be questioned as to why they didn’t do anything to help well some might depending on who had heard about the situation. The police was either to afraid to speak up or they agreed with the situation. The judge eventually started charging rape crimes up to five years or more in jail because of the so called honor killings that was happening to young women in theses countries so making it that nowadays crimes like that could no longer be covered up so easily because of very courageous women activists who stood up for innocent, defenseless
