When hearing the idea of school, many people my age can be seen rolling their eyes of sighing heavily, but that hasn’t always been the case for me. For as long as I can remember, I have looked forward to attending school and obtaining a high level of education. Although there has been times, especially this year as a sophomore in Governor’s school, where I have felt like school is nearly impossible, I can still proudly say that I’ve never given up. I have experienced an obstacle that even though it occurred in my early life, has motivated and assisted me throughout my educational journey, and it still continues to do so. When I was about six months old, I experienced multiple severe asthma attacks and was soon after diagnosed with chronic asthma. The doctor told my mother that I should be supervised from hour to hour, so she quit the two jobs that she had been working to watch and care for me around the clock. Until I was two years old, she remained unemployed, single parent of three children, but through it all, she always had family to help her. When I was three years old, my mom attempted to enroll me into preschool, but I was turned down because of safety issues regarding my severe asthma.
