Also, in order to save time, while the dinner items finish baking I typically begin decorating. Might I add, in my experience the amount of time and energy any host dedicates to decorating can feel rather overwhelming. Upon hours and hours of pulling décor from boxes located in my garage and attic I place the seasonal items strategically around my home. Once the decorating concludes, my home has a warming and festive feel. Naturally, my home and the dust from the décor will not clean itself, so onto cleaning. Carefully and meticulously I dust, sanitize, and tidy each room to prepare for each guest’s needs, as some will remain and spend the night. Finally, to complete the full look for the event, I pull out the fine china and all the formal serving platters I never use. Now, however extensive the roles of a host may come off, those of a guest can also come off equally as extensive while sharing similar roles. My family designates a side dish or two to each attending member with hopes of reducing pressure placed on the host.
