When I think of this quote I think of how my grandmother learned to read. My grandmother was the oldest child of 14, brothers and sisters. She had to work at the age of 6 and had to drop school. She loved going to school but had to help her family. She tells me that she learned how to read with the help of her father. Her father was the only person in her family that knew how to read, and he told my grandmother to read everything. He would give her trash, recipes, newspapers, and other things that had words for her to read. He told her it was a way to help, and it did. My grandmother learned to read thanks to this advice. I know that I agree with this quote, because my third-grade teacher once told me to read all billboards when my parents
