Studies have shown teenagers are in need of more sleep than what they are currently getting, which affects the adolescents health. Lacking in sleep can increases your chances of having serious consequences on the body. In the short term, sleep deprivation can cause irritability, inability to focus, and loss of judgement skills. To combine all of these into a schedule, sleep is one of students first choices to cut down on from the list of activities. Since they lose sleep rather consistently throughout the school year, adolescents are more prone to declining health. Deteriorating health leads to absences, and a high amount of missed days can cause students to receive punishments. If students are sick or feel unwell, they are less likely to attend school, but excess amounts of absences can cause students to receive detention or suspended privileges such as losing driving/parking capabilities and inability to practice or perform with an afterschool team. This creates more stress for the student and further affects their health and school attendance. If the school provided napping pods, students could alleviate some of their stress and gain valuable time recuperating from lost hours of sleep. Napping pods would be a great solution because students can set a time limit for their slumber based on their schedule and needs with a maximum of 30 minutes.
