Nationwide states that, “In the Nation, we understand how you feel about your car.” Nationwide is telling people that being a part of their “Nation” is key because they understand. Nationwide Insurance is using the imagery of a baby, an upbeat, fun song as well as the love of one’s personal property to get individuals who care deeply to buy a secure insurance coverage through a strong, well established company that is able to protect them financially in an unforeseen tragedy.

And the ones that just have a car to get from point A to point B. These people perhaps would not understand what the translation is in using a baby in this type of commercial. The individuals might not know the feeling of love that a parent has for their child. Nationwide is trying to relay this life altering experience through a thirty second advertisement.
Selling car insurance while using a baby to sell it, through images and song, may perhaps seem bizarre~ too intentionally bizarre to be happenstance. So why did Nationwide choose such a sappy love song? Should love be strange? Do you want love to be strange? These questions may not have a clear cut, known answer but one might think that the song was one they enjoyed humming or just perhaps enjoyed the beat. It is a catchy tune and could easily be stuck in your head, replaying over and over again. Where did you hear that tune? Oh yes, on that Nationwide Baby Ad.
