Nature and nurture components play a vital part in all of our lives. The question of how nature versus nurture influences human development has been an ongoing debate for a very long time and at present there is no clear winner, as both have the impacts on human development. Before this issue can be fully explained, it is important to understand what nature and nurture actually are. According to Berger, “Nature refers to the influence of the genes that people inherit. Nurture refers to environmental influences beginning with the health and diet of the embryo’s mother and continuing lifelong, including family, school, community, and societal experience” ( Berger 5).
