Nazca Lines The Nazca Lines, located in Southern Peru, are a composition of geometric shapes etched into the very earth.. It is believed by many scholars that the lines were created by the Nazca culture between 500 BC and 500 AD. Many of the swirls and shapes begin to form more distinct shapes, such as a monkey which are found in the Amazon-- an area with an abundance of water, a hummingbird which represents fertility, and a spider that is believed to be a sign of rain. Although the origin of the lines are, for the most part, believed to originate from ancient settlers, some are skeptical to if alien played any role in the making.
