Needs assessment
A needs assessment is a tool that can be used by the psychologist to determine the specific needs of the needs of the community in a specific area or district. In our project the needs assessment is a tool for the school counsellors, principal and teachers can use in order to determine the needs of the students in the school. The purpose of a needs assessment is to comprehensively evaluate the current situation of a whole community and to identify local priorities (Carter & Beaulieu, 1992).
According to Rye and Sparks (1999) students are the ones that can best identify their own needs in the setting of their school. Other information that is used to add to the information gathered is found from the school teachers, the principal,

The students that we focused on were the grade 6 and grade 7s. These are the seniors of the school and also include the prefects and head girls and head boys of the school. These classes were chosen because they are the oldest in the school and they are more likely to administer the bullying. The prefects and the head boys and heads girls will also be more informative when it comes to giving out information about the behaviours that they had observed in the school during their time of service and how they had dealt with the issue of bullying in the school. Bullies are often those that feel that they are physically bigger, stronger and more intelligent than the victim. As youngsters develop, how they are bullied and the way they bully others has a tendency of changing. The smaller students tend to use ridiculing and calling each other by ugly names and bodily harm more frequently than the older ones who prefer to use sexual harassment (Junoven, 2005; Carney & Merrell, 2001). Sometimes, bullying done by older perpetrators is usually based on issues of race. In the years that have gone by, technology has taken over and it has made its way into bullying too. Children started to utilize the Internet as a way to perform 'cyber-bullying'. This is usually done on websites and in social media pages.
