Recycling is the law in New York City and is an easy everyday way to protect the environment and help stop global warming. People in New York have been putting in their efforts to help slow down the process and effects of global warming. New York is one of the states who do many things to help the situation against the floods, diseases, air and water pollution. They have rules and regulations regarding how to sort your garbage before it is collected. In my city, The Bronx, we are required to separate cans, bottles, aluminum and paper in a clear white garbage bag and regular garbage in a black bag. If the garbage is not sorted before collection, there is a ticket with a fine starting at $25-$10,000. New York City provides a comprehensive and convenient curbside recycling program for its residents. As the years go by, they will continue to do all in their power to continue these efforts, so New York can still be a great place to live.

To avoid sending the nearly 200,000 tons of cloth to the trash, GrowNYC offers a textile recycling program to encourage New Yorkers to give their clothes a new life. New Yorkers can drop off their clothing, paired shoes, bedding, linens, hats, handbags, belts and fabric scraps at a number of Greenmarkets located throughout the city. Volunteers then sort the donations and grade them for reuse, offering them to secondhand shops and recycling markets that turn the clothes into usable rags. (CBS New
