Forced Change In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, characters, particularly Eliezer who changes his behavior, have been shown to change their personality and identities through forces exerted on them by the German concentration camps. Near the end of Elie’s journey, at Buchenwald, Elie’s dad is dying slowly because of illness which is putting a force on Elie which changes his mind about his dad after he dies. “I did not weep, and it pained me that I could not weep. But I had no more tears. And, in the depths of my being, in the recesses of my weakened conscience, could I have searched it, I might perhaps have found something like- free at last !” (106). I made this mistake while writing because I felt that I needed to write most information down to give the reader a better understanding of the plot. My plan to stop these errors from happening in the future is to: re-read the plot or information before my citation and then to shorten important information within the plot into one sentence while creating a smooth transition into my citation. On the first day of school paragraph analyzing about Night by Elie Wiesel, I incorrectly cited my quote from the book by putting the period within the quotation marks which should not be done unless it is a question mark or an exclamation mark. I made this mistake because I thought that all punctuation marks were needed for quotes. I will stop this error from happening in the future by re-reading the quote again and checking what punctuation mark there is and then if it is a question mark or exclamation mark, I will place it, but if it is a period I will
