High school is a gateway to the real world and coming of age is key to the development and progression through the stage of life. Ninth grade is the most important year in high school because it sets the tone for the rest of a students high school career. The way they react to ninth grade determines the way they will react to the rest of high school. If students do good in the ninth grade year it will reflect on the rest of their high school career. This means that if a student sees their friend do something, they are going to want to do the same thing. Fro example, if student A sees that their friend, student B, is struggling and makes the decision to dropout of high school, then student A will start to get thoughts of dropping out and they will start to wonder if they will be able to be as successful as they wish or if they will turn into a ball of negativity and drop out. Now all these thoughts about whether they can do it or not is running through the students head and it questions everyone else who his friends with the person that dropped out.
