Truth be told I never got the chance to hit Vampire Clubs in Eastern Europe. 'No Feeding in the Store' was never an issue either at Savannah Devilles. It was simply 'giving my heart away to Robert Smith' and a love for author Anne Rice that began my quest to supply all that was needed for the Vampire-to-Be. Between DJ Leslie and her Tuesday night Goth nights at Zaphod Beeblebrox and extras thrown in by myself, an Ottawa Goth scene was born, or revived.
Goth wasn't really new thing. For at least a decade, books, fashion, and bands like The Cure and Sisters of Mercy had created the base. Anne Rice became 'Queen of the Damned' and suddenly Vampires were known for their warm sensitive sides.
I could not get enough of this culture, and carried everything from mini-coffins to seven kinds of Vampire fangs. Not that some needed the fangs, as I knew many that had their teeth 'professionally adjusted'. They were not content to be like some, which we called the 'Kinder Goths'. These people were permanent card--carrying members of the Goth community It was their goal to become permanently pale and morbid, and could easily mix dark and gloomy with their 'Scary Mary's' and an all-you-can-eat-buffet at Mother Tuckers. …show more content…
There's a difference between Goth and smearing on some red lipstick or dark eyeshadow. If you're going for Goth, you need the piercings/chains, pink/red/outlandish colour and black clothes. In addition, the make up needs to be way darker and heavier; sinister like. Throw some white powder on the face, and don't think pretty. Think dark and vampirish or
