Heteronormativity is the act of assuming everyone is heterosexual giving no option to have a different sexual orientation. By making heterosexuality the norm everything else is seen as unnormal.
This effects especially young LGB people but ultimately every person in the community. When they are young and unsure about their sexuality it can be harming to only learn about heterosexual relationships as they are more likely to see themselves as different and hide their sexuality so they can fit in.
When a heterosexual person talks to a homosexual person and assumes that the other person is straight as well and starts asking, for example, about their relationship the homosexual person is put into a situation where they either have to conform to the heteronormative view of the other person or they would have to out themself which they cannot always do safely.

In the second episode Lito is at a movie premier together with Daniela. They are approached by an interviewer who asks them if ‘(they) are an item now’ meaning that they assume Lito and Daniela are in a relationship simply because they are seen together. He cannot con-centrate on filming so he goes to his caravan at the set. After a while one of the actresses, Cassandra, comes there and upon seeing the bulge in his trousers she moves closer to him obviously with the intent to start something sexual with Lito. He however stops her and tells her that his ‘heart belongs to another’ not saying the specific gender of that person. Cassandra automatically assumes that the other person is a woman saying ‘she’s a very lucky woman’. She is def-initely heteronormative as she assumes that Lito is with another woman while the thought of him being with a man has not even crossed her
