Obama’s Plan For America
For the past few months President Obama and Mitt Romney have been campaigning for the one of the most powerful jobs not only in the US, but also in the world. They both want the same job as President of The United States, but they both have different economic policies that they both think will better the economic values of the United States. President Obama if he is reelected he wants to build an economy that is built to last through adding and improving American jobs as well as improving the Social Security, keeping everyone on a path to success. Governor Romney on the other hand, thinks he can improve the U.S by giving the middle class more taxes while lowering the taxes of corporate businesses. Which can worsen the economy due to the unemployment rate. Mitt Romney also wants to privatize Social Security, which means instead of money guaranteed at retirement, you invest it. Social Security is guaranteed. Privatized Social Security is not. He also is for the discrimination against women, which could led to economical hardships. Therefore, Obama has better intentions for the US economy than Romney ever would.
“President Obama is fighting to grow the economy from the middle class out, not the top down” (“Obama for America” 1). Obama’s quote during his State of the Union address presents what is reelection will bring and what his plans are for the economy.
"Think about the America within our reach: A country that leads the world in educating its people. An America that attracts a new generation of high-tech manufacturing and high-paying jobs. A future where we're in control of our own energy, and our security and prosperity aren't so tied to unstable parts of the world. An economy built to last, where hard work pays off, and responsibility is rewarded." - Barack Obama, 2012 State of the Union
“Obama came into office during a really tuff time for most Americans, the 2008 Recession. The average lost of jobs in the US economy was 800,000 a month. To fight back for Americans, he signed the Recovery Act, which helped to create jobs and making investments in America so we can beat the competition. He also didn’t leave the American Auto Industry behind. They we’re terminating jobs by hundreds of thousands; GM and Chrysler we’re in danger of being turned into a settlement or even going bankrupt, which would have cost at least 1 million jobs at the most. Obama provided help to the American auto companies and now they are adding jobs and investing in America. Not only did Obama sign the Recovery Act, but he also made a plan called the Blueprint. He wants to rebuild America with the help of Americans but he believes that could only happen with educated Americans. He realizes a college education is a requirement in today’s economy. He wants to lower college cost, so that everyone has an equal opportunity at the middle class. Romney on the other hand, said that we should have let Detroit “go bankrupt”; he mocked the President for encouraging young people to pursue careers in manufacturing, and while he was governor of Massachusetts the state lost manufacturing jobs at a rate twice the national average” (“Obama for America” 1)
“President Obama believes that all seniors should be able to retire with dignity, not just a privileged few. And, he believes that all Americans deserve to know that, if they become disabled or if they lose the “breadwinner” in the family, Social Security will be there to protect them. Today, nearly 54 million Americans receive Social Security benefits, including 38 million retirees and their family members, 10 million Americans with disabilities and their dependents, and 6 million survivors of deceased workers. For many of these Americans, Social Security is a key source of income” (“The White House” 6) Obama states what shouldn’t be changed for seniors and disabled people in
