First off, Roosevelt had managed to overcome his many obstacles that he faced during this time of his life making him stronger and more aware. Even from a child he faced severe asthma and was advised not to spend too much time outdoors, however he fought the odds and spent a sizeable amount of time in his life being physically active and being outdoors. Not only was he sick, it was obvious because he was built thin and could not hold his own, but even as he was sick, he had started boxing and as his physique began to build so did his confidence.
