Our organization is a puzzle comprised of many parts which work together to become what it is today. We are professionals in our own field. Every field and every Soldier in that field is equally important. It is imperative that we understand that every Soldier, regardless of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), is as much a Soldier as the next. The necessity for a Human Resources Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in the Profession of Arms is essential for the Army to complete its mission. We have a successful operation as we meet the basic needs of every Soldier. We must acquire the highest form of professionalism to be known as dependable leaders. We should serve with honor and pride regardless of the task we are accomplishing. Every MOS is vital to carry out the mission. The Army needs infantrymen, truck drivers, communication specialists, logisticians, culinary specialists, as much as it needs HRNCOs to complete all mission requirements. We must feel a great sense of satisfaction in knowing that we are part of something greater. Human Resources NCOs are a piece of the puzzle and play an essential part in this organization. NCOs should strive to be competent. Many Soldiers are primarily focused on advancing to the next pay grade when in reality, we should be motivated to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our field. Once we have mastered that position, we are ready to move to a place of higher responsibility. We determine the level of education we are willing to acquire. It’s up to us as professionals to ensure we are mentoring other Soldiers. Someone will take our place when the time comes to move to a different position or
