Global warming is a major issue in today's world. But us as humans don't recognize the issues we are causing to ourselves and for future generations. We are advised to help reduce greenhouse gases to prevent problems that will come from behind and didn't know we caused them. Since we do not listen to experts we still produce a major quantity of greenhouse gases and by doing so wildlife is being the most affected at this moment. Ocean waters are becoming more acidic and this is making the ocean a habitable place for the ocean inhabitants. This is only the first problem we have had so far, but if we do not do something, we will face many many more major problems. Ocean Acidification is also, known as the “Climate change equally evil twin” which is caused by excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and it makes the sea waters more acidic than it should be. Currently, the ocean has five hundred twenty-five billion tons of carbon dioxide in the sea waters, that's about 22 million tons per day. And with the extra carbon dioxide, it dissolves in the water and makes it more acidic as the pH drops rapidly. During the past 200 years, scientists say that the ocean has become 30% more acidic than what was …show more content…
They need a stable pH level to be able to live because if they are used to a steady pH and all of a sudden goes to acidic their body cannot withstand that transition such as humans going from hot to cold temperatures. For example, corals are sea organisms that provide homes for other sea animals that are having babies or a place to have. Coral is affected by acid in the manner of not being able to grow and limit its ability to expand and increase its population. As well, affect them before their development and before building their own homes. Some coral is able to withstand a larger pH scale but others are not and either die or become
