When people make a reference to OJ, they automatically think of orange juice. This paper is about OJ, but it references Orenthal James Simpson otherwise known as OJ Simpson. OJ was best known for being the running back for the Buffalo Bills and was nicknamed “The Juice”. Although he was a Heisman Trophy winner, he was also a major suspect of a murder case involving his wife and her new boyfriend. Although the evidence was there, he was found innocent and never went to jail. OJ was an amazing football player. We shouldn’t remember him for his trial for murdering his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson; he should be remembered for his football career.

They were divorced in 1992 resulting in a “$400,000 settlement with $10,000 per month for child support.” (Bio.com, OJ Simpson) According to his Biography, on June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson was found dead. All the evidence such as fingerprints on the weapon, the missing bloody glove that was found outside the escape window, blood found in the bathroom, the dog did not bark which suggested the dog knew the killer, witnesses, and many more that connected OJ as the main suspect of the case. (101 pieces, n.d.) After analyzing the scene, the detectives ordered OJ Simpson to surrender by 11 am on 17 June 1992 (Washington Post, 2014). OJ Simpson fled in A.C. Cowling’s white Ford Bronco. The trial lasted almost a year. Even after confessing he murdered his ex wife, his trial verdict was “not guilty.”
O.J. Simpson once was a very well known football star in all ways, not knowing that he would later be in one of the most televised and talked about trials ever. Some thought that the system of courts would be changed after this trial for such a crime that occurred. In my opinion, OJ Simpson should be remembered as a football with his amazing stats and leadership towards this team’s winning seasons.
