Based on the three texts, Benjamin Franklin’s Autobiography (Part I), Olaudah Equiano’s Interesting Narrative, and Samson Occum’s "A Short Narrative of My Life," I should absolutely know how to talk like a southerner during that time period. Slang, or even modern English will work great if I want to get caught, so that will be the first thing I practice.
