The immaculate structure is easily noticeable around Iowa City, especially with it being topped off with the copper lid. With hundreds and thousands of people that visit the Old Capitol everyday it proves to be the most visited building in Iowa City. The longer you look at it the more you appreciate. The immaculate building can be seen from anywhere on campus. The copper top, stone columns, and the old look to it can all be recognized easily around the state of Iowa. It is one of the great symbols for the University of Iowa. Consequently, it is also a symbol for the state. So how do we decide on whether it's part of the state or university? If you ask most people around Iowa City about the Old Capitol, a positive image comes to them, because it is the heart and soul of our University. But what would happen if you asked an Iowa state, or UNI student what comes to mind when they think of the Old Capitol. When I asked Jacob Klossman, an incoming Iowa state student, about what the Old Capitol meant to him he said, "the Old Capitol means a lot to the state and its history no matter where it is located. Even though people may think it is a symbol for the University, it's really represents the whole state of
