E.B. White’s, Once More to the Lake, tells of a nostalgic father who decides to journey back to his childhood summer camp in Maine with his son in tow. While remembering every little detail about the camp, he finds himself in his father’s shoes; drawing a parallel between the trips he took with his father and the trip he took with his son. He watched his son like his father used to watch him and started saying things that his father used to say. Since everything, down to the smell of the air, was virtually unchanged, it was hard for him to distinguish between what was happening and what already had happened, as time had not existed in his mind.
