I chose the to support the first generalization, which says, "Things that seem ridiculously simple in the planning usually turn out to be much more complicated in the doing." From the very beginning of the story, it can be seen that Wise does not always thoroughly plan out his trips. "Midway over the city Johnny ran out of straw (Nash 49)." This short excerpt reveals that young Wise was so eager to fly his balloon that he didn’t think things through. At fourteen he probably figured that flying would be easy and nothing could go wrong.
