The view of law enforcement has been negatively affected by corrupt officers throughout the years. Corruption within law enforcement is not a recent phenomenon, but has been documented throughout history. The roots of corruption often lie in systemic flaws, including inadequate oversight, weak accountability mechanisms, and the insidious influence of organized crime.
