The issue discussed in the article is,Should all Canadians should be automatically considered as organ donors? The article includes the pros and cons to the issue and examples that help support each side.

Organ donation can mean the difference between life and death for many people. Every year too many people die while waiting for an organ donation. Approximately 8,000 of Canadians die every year while sitting on organ transplant wait lists. Some citizens feel that the solution is to flip the system so that everyone is automatically considered a donor. The system is called the Presumed Consent Model. This model is already used in more than 20 countries in Europe such as Austria, Belgium, and Germany. If Ontario made that switch

Families might be confused by the fact that donor bodies are often kept on life support while the tissues are removed. Surgeons do not remove any tissues unless the person is brain dead, but they sometimes put the body on a ventilator to keep the heart pumping fresh blood into the tissues to keep them alive long enough to harvest. This is not the same as life, but there is a moment when the ventilator is removed and the heart stops. Donating organs goes against some religions such as The Amish. They consent to donation if they know it is for the health and welfare of the transplant recipient. They believe that since God created the human body, God's the one that has to heal the person. Meaning, they are forbidden from using modern medical services, including surgery, hospitalization, dental work, anesthesia, blood transfusions, or immunization. Since they are forbidden to have surgeries, it would be kind of tricky to take their organs out if surgeons can't cut them open. Hindus are not prohibited by religious law from donating their organs, according to the Hindu Temple Society of North America. In fact, Hindu mythology includes stories in which parts of the human body are used for the benefit of other humans and society. The act is an individual decision meaning there are Hindu’s in Ontario that would say no but if donation is a mandatory thing then they can't do anything about it and they have to defy their religion/their God and hope God redeems them. Another example are Gypsies who mostly are against organ donation. Their objection is connected with their belief in the afterlife. Gypsies believe that for one year after a person dies, the soul retraces its steps. All parts of the body must remain intact because the soul maintains a physical shape. Another con is that it goes against freedom. Saying organ donation should be mandatory in Ontario is going against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
