Over the years, education system has continued to change from the traditional teaching methods to today’s integration of academics and technical learning. In addition to the young generation, classrooms today hold adults who enroll for adult learning. As a result, teachers now have to learn new ways of teaching this new part of their students. Strategies that include professional development have been devised with the hope of changing the traditional teaching methods to accommodate and reflect on the principles involved in adult learning. In order to properly utilize these strategies, teachers have to consider and work within the aspect known as organizational professionalism. Organizational professionalism is an aspect that ensures that teachers observe certain points that see them through a path of improvement. In spite of the word’s origin, this quality is not limited to those in occupations we describe as professions. It’s central for individuals of all education levels higher and lower to demonstrate a high level of this trait just like teacher, doctors, judges and lawyers. Cashiers, waitresses and maintenance workers should display professionalism. If teachers are to reach a point where they could be referred to as professionals in a position to make complex alterations in their work, they need to understand the continuous professional changes in the practice. First of all, traditional learning methods used in school cannot be used in adult learning. For this reason, teaching as a profession needs to be altered to accommodate the new social and cultural needs to the adult curriculum.
