Introduction
The death of Osama Bin Laden has been shrouded in secrecy and controversy since it was announced by members of the United States government. There have been many conspiracy theories arising, hoaxes claimed and rumors circulated around the time of the alleged incident and even today. Some of these ideas include the notion that Bin Laden has been dead for years or that he could still in fact be alive.

Its location of the compound itself was towards the end of a secluded track; supposedly for added security. Tracking it via Google Maps reveal that it was not there in 2001 but was around when the Maps were updated in 2005. The exact location places it about 2 ½ miles to the north of the Abbottabad city center. The compound itself is bigger than any of the surrounding areas and is completely surrounded by a 12 foot x 18 foot concrete wall topped with barb wire. The U.S. government and Army have implicitly stated that it is never in favour of killing unarmed individuals. It has however believed that the person in hiding would not easily surrender and all necessary steps would have to be taken. The CIA director has since stated that if his men had the opportunity to take Bin Laden alive they would have been prepared to do so. When he posed a threat however, they were authorized to kill if he could not be detained.
There was an unnamed source however, that purported that the whole operation was a kill operation from its onset and that there was never any plans by the U.S. government to capture and keep him alive. There was another source that acknowledged a similar order. The sort advised that they were instructed to kill on sight. When this order was given the SEALS reportedly cheered; signalling that they endorsed the order.
