During their time in the military, soldiers undergo multiple changes that leave lasting effects on them and their families. These changes include physical, mental, and emotional health; this is most likely due to the lifestyle and demands of the military. An effect or a “wound” that follows combat veterans is most commonly post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is a mental health condition characterized by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. The reason that PTSD is one of the prominent mental health conditions for veterans could be due to the fact that soldiers experience multiple high stress environments and are in constant survival mode.
