Paper towels Paper towels are modern way of a dish cloth. They were invented by accident in 1907. It was first introduced to help little kids with infection control when they had colds. He heard about a teacher who gave kids a soft paper so that the roller towels in the toilettes would not get infected with germs. He sold them and called them disposable paper towels. Later he called it Sani-Towels. Then in 1931 he made the first paper towel. They were not very popular because people were so used to dish cloths. Paper towels have a special way of being made. They are made of office paper waste. The waste is brought to a factory. First it goes through a large machine called a pulper. This breaks up the paper into fibers. Next it mixes the fibers with water which makes a mixture called pulp. Then it goes through a filter that takes out objects that are not paper such as: plastic and staples. Following it goes through a instrument that takes out the ink by injecting air into it. Then goes through a press that compresses all of the water from the fibers. A screw conveyer then breaks up the pulp. Then it is whitened with a …show more content…
