Healthy bodies are a combination of good nutrition, exercise, regular medical exams and good life choices. Healthy bodies make for happier people. What we put into our mouths, shows up in our energy levels and in every system that makes up our bodies. It is important to give your body what it needs to give out the best that it can. Good nutrition keeps our bones and muscles strong and flexible, and out digestive system working properly. Exercising regularly with proper stretching and cool downs keeps our skeletal system and respiratory systems working at peak performance. We only have one body to last us for a lifetime. Regular exercise, good nutrition and yearly physicals are a necessity for good living and maintaining a healthy weight. According to the online Daily Food Plan questionnaire, an 18 year old male should consume approximately 10 ounces of grain, 4 cups of vegetables, and 2.5 cups of fruit, 3 cups of dairy and 7 ounces of protein daily. Some of the more outspoken high-risk behaviors include the using of tobacco products, second hand smoke, an excess of junk foods and alcohol use. Tobacco products are known to have cancer causing materials in them and it has been found that someone breathing in second hand smoke is at the same risk. According to a report from the Center of Disease Control, tobacco products are harmful to nearly every organ in the body. It is a bad habit to start and it seems to be a hard habit to quit. Children and teenagers over-eating and consuming an excess of junk food is also another risky behavior. Junk food and most fast foods do not contain enough good nutrients for our bodies but contain mostly fats, high sodium levels and lots of calories without anything good coming from them. A fast food treat every now and again isn’t as harmful as eating fast food several times a week which is the same with junk food. Overindulgence is the risk factor when it comes to most things, including, fast foods and alcohol. A glass of wine or another alcohol occasionally isn’t bad but when someone consumes a large amount daily is when the trouble begins. Over consumption of alcohol is hard on a person’s liver, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.
