His goal was to convince the delegates at the Virginia Convention that taking up arms against the growing British military threat had to happen. He had to prove that standing by and hoping that everything would just work out on its own would lead the colonists to slavery. The most effective persuasive technique used by Patrick Henry in the “Speech to the Virginia Convention” is logos with a bit of pathos.
Patrick Henry began his speech using pathos. He wants to fill the delegates with fear. Henry states, “The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part
