INTRODUCTION:
This case involves an unknown suspect(s) opening the victim’s unlocked vehicle, and stealing items from inside, in violation of PC 484(a)-Petty Theft from a vehicle.
LOCATION:
The location is the apartment buildings basement parking lot, located on level P1 in building #3 at 820 Locust Street.
EVIDENCE:
ID Tech Chapman #1370, retrieved latent fingerprint and took photos of the vehicle, which were later uploaded into VeriPic.
LOSS:
• A green MA1 Jacket, worth $100.00.
• White Sunglasses, worth $300.00.
• Vehicle key, house key and the garage gate remote.
INVESTIGATION:
On 03-29-16 at 1459 hours, I was dispatched to 820 Locust Street regarding a petty theft from an unlocked vehicle burglary investigation. Upon my arrival, I met with Victim Yili Chen, who told me the following information in summary: …show more content…
Chen believed she locked her vehicle before heading to her apartment for the evening.
On 03-28-16 at approximately 1500 hours, Chen returned to her vehicle and saw that the driver’s door was unlocked. Chen saw that an unknown suspect(s) stole her green MA1 Jacket (worth $100.00). The jacket reportedly contained a pair of white Sunglasses (worth $300.00). Chen also saw her vehicle key, house key and the garage gate remote were missing from the vehicle’s center cup holder. At about 1900 hours, Chen contacted the police department to report the incident. Dispatch reportedly told Chen that police response would delayed.
