Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been around for decades,

Peanut butter is something many kids think as being a combination of crushed up peanuts and butter. However, as many elementary students may have experienced, this is simply not the case. Smashed peanuts and butter is not something many eight-year-olds would want to eat on a regular basis. Upon this disturbing, distasteful discovery, many kids become baffled as to why peanut butter is called peanut butter. To figure that out, the creation of this condiment has to be taken into account.

In fact, it is said that people who like crunchy peanut butter are wise and nonjudgmental. People who like creamy peanut butter are easy going and low-maintenance (Dieker). Crunchy peanut butter is not the most popular type of peanut butter in the world, most people preferring (and relating to the personality of) the smoothness of creamy. However, there are a number of people who enjoy a little bit of crunch on their toast in the morning. The whole peanuts in crunchy peanut butter add a little something to the already amazing creamy peanut butter. Because they have only been cleaned, consumers of this type of peanut butter get a little more taste of peanut rather than the extra ingredients used to make the butter. There are other types of nut butter out there. A few of these are almond butter, cashew butter, and Nutella. The invention of these different kinds of butter came from the vast number of people that are allergic to peanuts. It just wasn’t fair for people allergic to peanuts to not be able to experience the delicious taste of peanut butter, so people created variations of it. Nutella took a unique twist on peanut butter, using hazelnuts and chocolate in addition to peanuts. This spread took our nation by storm in 2014 after its 50th anniversary (Mitzman). People all over the world now love this spread, sometimes even more than traditional peanut butter. This is a favorite amongst many children.
